First flagship sustainable development project

Located in the heart of the island, the MIL Montréal project aims to redevelop the former Outremont marshalling yard and its surroundings into a truly mixed-use, sustainable living environment focused on public and active transportation. Located at the junction of four boroughs and a linked city (Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension, Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie, Plateau Mont-Royal, Outremont and Ville de Mont-Royal), the project covers an area of 118 hectares, equivalent to approximately 165 soccer fields.

The project revolves around the Complexe des sciences de l’Université de Montréal, which will welcome students from the chemistry, physics, geography and biological sciences departments this fall.

In addition to the MIL campus, the project includes four hectares of green spaces, including a public square and four neighbourhood parks, 1,300 housing units – including a proportion of social and community housing – local shops and the integration of public artworks. Citizens, students, researchers, workers and visitors will live side by side, creating a unique neighborhood where life is good.

Check out the complete program and come celebrate in style on September 21!
